Professional manual lymphatic drainage massage in Oxfordshire, tailored to your needs. The Bodywright offers a gentle, considered approach to lymphatic massage for clients seeking support with comfort, relaxation and appropriate swelling management. Appointments are discussed individually to establish whether treatment is suitable.
What is manual lymphatic drainage?
Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a specialist, light-pressure massage approach using gentle, rhythmic movements. It differs from deep tissue or sports massage: more pressure is not necessarily more effective. Treatment is adapted to your circumstances and comfort.
When might lymphatic drainage massage be helpful?
People enquire about lymphatic drainage for feelings of puffiness or heaviness, recovery-related comfort and relaxation. Where swelling is associated with a diagnosed medical condition or surgery, the appropriate approach depends on the cause, stage of recovery and any treatment plan already in place. Massage is not a substitute for medical assessment or specialist lymphoedema care.
What happens at your appointment?
- Initial discussion: We review your goals, symptoms, relevant health history and whether treatment is appropriate.
- Gentle treatment: If suitable, I use light, rhythmic techniques rather than deep pressure.
- Aftercare: We discuss comfort, expectations and any appropriate next steps.
Safety and suitability
New, unexplained or rapidly increasing swelling should be assessed before massage. Lymphatic drainage may be unsuitable in situations such as suspected blood clots, active infection or certain unstable medical conditions. If you have lymphoedema, recent surgery or a complex medical history, please mention this when enquiring so we can discuss suitability and any relevant guidance from your treating team.
